OUR STORY

The story behind the business and the human.

A smiling woman with blonde hair, wearing a white polka dot T-shirt, sitting outside at a black metal table with yellow flowers in the foreground and a textured white wall behind her.

I wasn’t always a dog person.

After a childhood incident, I carried a quiet fear of dogs into adulthood. That all changed the day my husband and I adopted Bella - a high-energy working cocker spaniel with a whirlwind personality.

I adored her instantly… but I felt completely out of my depth.

The training advice I found was often contradictory, harsh, or simply didn’t work in real life. I wanted something different - something kinder, simpler, and more in tune with who Bella was as an individual.

So, I began learning everything I could.

I trained as a qualified games-based dog trainer and spent time volunteering at a local rescue centre. What I discovered wasn’t just a better way to train dogs — it was a whole new way to see them. And it was something I felt very strongly that every dog guardian needed to know.

That’s how Calm Dog Coaching began: with a desire to share what I had learned, and the transformation it brought to life with my own dogs.

By combining this knowledge with my many years as a corporate transformation coach, I now help both dogs and their humans learn with confidence, creating calmer, more connected lives together.

My next chapter - studying for a Clinical Canine Behaviour, Level 6 Diploma (Ofqual) - deepens my expertise to enhance the support I offer you and your dog.

This isn’t just dog training.

Kindness, connection, and empathy became the heart of my approach, and they still guide every session I teach today.  Helping people understand their dogs deeply and guiding both dog and human toward a calmer life together.

OUR VALUES

Calm Dog Coaching is built on four core values that shape everything we do:

Empathy

Training is about understanding the emotional needs of both dogs and their guardians, creating a safe space for growth.

Connection

Strong, trusting bonds between dog and guardian are at the heart of everything Claire teaches.

Simplicity

Training should feel accessible, with clear steps that don’t overwhelm or frustrate the owner.

Kindness

Every dog and guardian deserves a training experience that feels positive, supportive, and respectful.

Why do I love to do this?

Bella’s no longer with us, but her legacy lives on in Calm Dog Coaching - and in every guardian and dog I work with. Scarlet, our puppy, is my daily reminder of why this work matters.
